L'édition 2008 de Livres en folie, une initiative que le quotidien Le Nouvelliste et Unibank ont renouvelée pour la 14e année, le 22 mai prochain. Au Parc de la canne à sucre, au cercle Belevue à Bourdon, on attend cinquante auteurs qui viendront pour des dédicaces fraîches ou de livres anciens.

Croissance oblige, cette édition recense 1.409 livres exposés, contre 1.220 pour 2007, avec moins de cent nouveautés. Signalons le courage de Frank Étienne, qui sera présent pour sept ouvrages. Le directeur du Nouvelliste, Max Chauvet a également prix ses précautions : «
Cette année, nous avons pris toutes les dispositions nécessaires pour que le problème principal qui était la longueur interminable des files d’attente soit résolu. Nous avons pratiquement multiplié les comptoirs... »

Livres en folie est là pour stimuler la lecture, de la même façon que Ticket Magazine a été créé pour encourager les jeunes à lire et à s'habituer davantage à la lecture », poursuit-il dans

Daniela Ducasse is a Paralegal who has also been trained in the Criminal Justice Administration and Political Science fields. Among other things, Daniela is a Writer/Author/Publisher, local television show Producer and Host, Graphic Designer, Motivational Speaker, and more importantly, she is a mother. Daniela is a domestic violence advocate and NYS certified rape crisis counselor. She does volunteer counseling and participates in support group sessions for women and children who are survivors of domestic violence and sexual trauma. She is extremely active in her community and encourages others to do the same. Daniela is also a Co-Facilitator/Counselor, and Mentor for young women that are incarcerated, on probation, pre and post released.
Daniela is driven by the spirit of motherhood, the strength of womanhood, the pride of being Haitian, and the ability to be successful at whatever she attempts. She works courageously and constantly to protect the Haitian Culture. She believes that our youth are the eternal archives of our accomplishments. She is also the founder/director of a youth organization called, Haitian American Talented Youth of Rockland (HATYR), founded in 1999. Daniela creates preventive methods for teens and their families. She encourages young, single parents not to give up on themselves. Daniela is a role model for young women who used to think that being a young single mother was a handicap. She has been able to reach some of her most important goals by looking up and reaching for her stars, all while keeping her feet on the ground.
In May of 2007, Daniela served as the Chief Coordinator of Affairs to the Haitian Mayors Delegation which visited Spring Valley, NY and obtained Intensive Municipal Trainings in order to better serve the people of Haiti. Daniela had the pleasure of working side by side with Representative and Mayors of Tabarre, Delmas, Port-au Prince, Carrefour, Petion-Ville et Cite Soleil. Politic is in Daniela?s Blood; however, with her Feminist standards and personality she remains as independent as she should be, but available to assist everyone with a positive agenda for the future of Haiti. Daniela is the recipient of several community and government outstanding awards for her unlimited contribution to the people and beyond. Recently, Daniela received seven (7) Awards Certificate of Merit and two Plaques, from State Assembly Personnel, Senator stage to County Legislature and Executives, for given back to her community. At the end of 2007, she was featured in SUNY Rockland community College, Newsletter, where she is an Alumnus, as a foreign woman who has gone beyond her scope of career to make a difference in becoming a writer of quality.
Recently, Daniela Ducasse formed an alliance ?HAPWA? (Haitian American Professional Women Alliance) to assist young Haitian women in making career decisions that are best for them and their families. Currently, Daniela is the proud Owner and Founder of FANTASTICAL TOUCH PRODUCTIONS, which is well on its way to taking the Entertainment, Graphic Design and Event Planning industries by storm.
