Back to the Light. Brian May Artwork
Lorsque Brian May est tombé sur les oeuvres de l'artiste Sarah Rugg sur Instagram, inspirées par son travail, il a été tellement impressionné qu'il a proposé de les publier sur papier. Le résultat est ce volume de la taille d'un album vinyle (30x30 cm) et dont le titre fait référence à son premier album solo "Back to the Light", remasterisé et réédité en 2021. Une extraordinaire anthologie de portraits de l'artiste qui, avec ses oeuvres, a lancé le phénomène, désormais viral sur Instagram, du "Bri-art" .

Activation Policies for the Unemployed, the Right to Work and the Duty to Work
Since the 1990s and the 2000s, Western social protection systems have experienced a turn towards activation. This turn consists of the multiplication of measures aimed at bringing those who are unemployed closer to participation in the labour market. These measures often induce a strengthening of the conditions that must be met in order to receive social benefits. It is in this well known context that the authors gathered in this book decided to take a closer look at the relationship between activation policies for the unemployed and the right and the duty to work. If activation measures are likely to increase transitions towards the labour market, we can also make the assumption that they may, particularly when they are marked with the seal of coercion, hinder or dramatically reduce the right to freely chosen work. In such circumstances, the realisation of the "right to work", which is often stated to be the aim of those who promote activation, tends in practice to be reduced to an increasing pressure being exerted on the unemployed. In this case, isn't it actually the duty to work that is particularly reinforced ? After an historical and philosophical perspective on the issue, this assumption is confronted with the developments observed in the United States and in France, and then with the guidelines laid down in international human rights instruments. What follows is a discussion of two alternatives to the dominant activation model : the basic income guarantee and the employment guarantee.

The Italian Yearbook of Human Rights 2014, the fourth in the series, provides a dynamic and up-to-date overview of the measures Italy has taken to adapt its legislation and policies to international human rights law and to comply with commitments voluntarily assumed by the Italian Government at the international level. The 2014 Yearbook surveys the activities of the relevant national and local Italian actors, including governmental bodies, civil society organisations and universities. It also presents reports and recommendations that have been addressed to Italy by international monitoring bodies within the framework of the United Nations, the Council of Europe and the European Union. Finally, the Yearbook provides a selection of international and national case-law that casts light on Italy's position vis-à-vis internationally recognised human rights. "Italy and human rights in 2013 : the challenges of social justice and the right to peace" is the focus of the introductory section of the Yearbook. With a view on the second Universal Periodic Review of Italy before the Human Rights Council, the Italian Agenda of Human Rights 2014, intended to be an orientation tool with regards to immediate and longterm measures that should be taken to ensure human rights for all in the Country, is integrated by an analysis of the status of implementation of the recommendations made to Italy during the first Universal Periodic Review (2010).

L'éphémère et l'éternel dans l'image photographique
Ce volume rassemble le contenu de la trilogie théorique de Boris Kossoy, Photographie & Histoire (1989), Réalités et fictions dans la trame photographique (1999) et Les temps de la photographie (2007), ouvrages qui ont fait l'objet de plusieurs éditions au Brésil, en Argentine et en Espagne. Quelle vérité nous montre l'image photographique ? La vérité de l'enregistrement de l'apparence, de l'indiscutable ressemblance à l'objet, matérialisée par un système de représentation visuelle, culturellement et idéologiquement façonnée par le photographe selon un processus de création de réalités et de fictions. Ainsi se forme le document photographique : réaliste par rapport à ce qu'il montre, mais perméable aux divagations de l'imaginaire, vulnérable aux utilisations et aux intérêts les plus divers. Quelles seront les réalités que la photographie fixera dans le futur ? Telles sont les questions analysées ici. Mais la plus grande contribution de ce livre réside dans son corpus théorique et son modèle méthodologique d'analyse et d'interprétation des sources photographiques ; ces fondements peuvent constituer un champ d'études en soi, mais s'étendre aux sciences humaines et sociales.

Back to Al Bak est le récit autobiographique de Dwa, dessinateur malgache. Après 27 ans de vie dans la capitale Antananarivo il retourne dans la campagne des hauts plateaux malgaches dans le village où il est né, Alatsinainy Bakaro, communément appelé "Al Bak". Lorsqu'il l'a quitté, à l'âge de 8 ans, il n'y avait ni eau courante, ni électricité. N'ayant plus aucun lien familial, il effectue des recherches sur internet et se fait héberger chez des gens qui, hasard des choses, font le même métier que jadis ses parents. Ce retour aux sources, dans une famille qui aurait pu être la sienne, le plonge dans la nostalgie de son enfance mais aussi dans l'incompréhension d'un monde qui est totalement différent du sien et où la bande dessinée y est une activité... inconnue ! Dwa, de son vrai nom Eric Andriantsialonina, vient d'être primé meilleur artiste contemporain de la grande île en février 2018.11 nous relate ce voyage dans le temps et sa mémoire, avec brio et délicatesse.

Images à charge, la construction de la preuve par l'image, livre de l'exposition éponyme, présente, à travers dix cas, comment par l'élaboration d'un protocole l'image se construit pour devenir preuve. Des méthodes de prises de vue scientifiques mises au point par Alphonse Bertillon, criminologue travaillant pour la Préfecture de police de Paris à la fin du XIXe siècle, aux premières images aériennes du front réalisées par l'armée durant la Première Guerre mondiale jusqu'aux clichés permettant d'identifier les victimes de la Grande Purge de Staline, la photographie depuis plus de 150 ans sert de preuve, témoigne du crime : elle atteste d'une certaine réalité et tend ainsi à rendre une vérité. Inspirée des clichés de la médecine légale, utilisés lors de l'enquête policière et du procès, l'image Forensic, de l'anglais computer forensics, authentifie, permet la collecte de preuves et sert l'investigation. Témoignage à charge, la photographie scientifique impose une véracité crue. Images de sport. De l'archive à l'histoire
Les images de sport ont envahi nos écrans, nos journaux, nos rues, nos imaginaires. Ce phénomène n'est pas nouveau. Dès la fin du XIXe siècle, il a accompagné le développement d'une culture de masse et s'est affirmé durant l'entre-deux-guerres puis à l'ère de la télévision. Des images Panini aux clichés de la préfecture de police de Paris, c'est tout un univers de signes et de représentations que ce livre fait resurgir. Sont ainsi passés en revue des athlètes étrusques, Pierre de Coubertin en sportsman, des "poilus" transformés un temps en sportifs, les premiers rugbymen français aisément confondus avec des footballeurs, des lutteurs dépassés par le jujutsu, des athlètes figés à des fins pédagogiques, des corps saisis par la magie ambivalente de Leni Riefenstahl, des sportives de romans populaires, des joueurs de polo argentins qui détournent la tradition gaucho, des héros nationaux promus par L'Equipe, des basketteurs projetés à la une des magazines spécialisés, un cycliste portraituré par Jules Beau, des temples sportifs du XXe siècle. Cet ouvrage collectif se distingue par le fait que les images ne sont pas reproduites en guise d'illustration. De leur production à leur patrimonialisation, quinze historiens mènent l'enquête en France comme à l'étranger et se transforment en entomologistes du fait sportif. Les différents plans, gestes et tenues, les moindres détails permettent de dater ou de lever un anonymat, de redonner chair et vie à des sportifs et à des sportives. Leurs images s'animent sous nos yeux. Françoise Bosman, conservatrice générale du patrimoine, est directrice des Archives nationales du monde du travail (Roubaix). Patrick Clastres, agrégé d'histoire, est professeur de khâgne au lycée Pothier d'Orléans. Paul Dietschy, ancien élève de TENS de Fontenay-Saint-Cloud, agrégé et docteur en histoire, est maître de conférences à l'université de Franche-Comté. The "gay agenda" is a rhetorical strategy deployed by the religious right and other social conservatives to magnify fear and hostility of queers. Queers are accused, among other things, of strategizing to recruit children into sexually deviant lifestyles ; dismantling family and marriage as cornerstones of civilization ; and forcing the entertainment industry and court systems to do their bidding. Queers certainly do have an agenda but it is not the one that the religious right claims it is. It is to assert their presence in the public space ; claim and name their identities ; and strategize for social justice in law, schools, and workplaces. The Gay Agenda : Claiming Space, Identity, and Justice claims and reclaims the language of "agenda" and turns the rhetoric of the religious right on its ear. The contributors provide insightful and sharp commentary on gay agendas for human rights, marriage and family, cultural influences, schooling and education, and politics and law.

The Wolves Rise Again. New elites born out of chaos
The successive shocks that strike our time have acted as an indicator of men : the bland elites of yesteryear, suddenly rejected by the masses, went back silently into the void where they had first come from. A Life of Her Own
This study reconstructs Brittain's feminist theory, which mainly refutes assumptions made about women, supports companionate marriage, and demands the communal reorganization of child care and domestic work to enable a married woman to work outside her home. It compares her theory to her five novels. Doing so, it uncovers revealing feminist 'flaws', above all that marriage remains, the sine qua non for a woman's happiness. The study describes Brittain's way to the top as a formidable obstacle race, in which she constantly had to fight the men she loved, her children, her parents, and resulting domesticity in order to find time to write "the book of the decade". She reached her goal with the publication of Testament of Youth in 1933.

Drawing on the collected knowledge of a number of Australian experts investigating interwar issues of security, surveillance and civic rights from the perspective of migration studies, this book aims, through the examination of individuals and groups in Oceania who were targeted for potential subversion or believed to hold National Socialist sympathies (including local National Socialists, Italian-Australians, Russian exiles, members of the right-wing movements the New Guard and Australia First), to consider how issues of security were regarded at another critical point in world history and what lessons we may learn from that period today. This book examines a variety of motives for embracing National Socialism and investing hope in the Third Reich. Attitudes shifted over time from enthusiasm to scepticism and disappointment. But, most importantly, beyond support and opposition, there was a surprising level of disengagement and indifference from sister movements on the radical right. This groundbreaking study defies easy answers and previously-held understandings, and will stimulate debate and further research.
