On le connait en tant que dessinateur de BD cultes comme Le Roi des mouches ou Love in Vain, mais Mezzo est également un illustrateur de renom. Affiches, pochettes d'albums, sérigraphies, couvertures de magazines... cet auteur exigeant a déjà mis son talent au service de supports divers et variés pour délivrer son univers underground, onirique, sexy et rock. Des images muettes qui, par leur force d'évocation, sont souvent aussi parlantes que des cases de BD.Ce très bel ouvrage recueille un florilège des illustrations que Mezzo a pu produire dans sa carrière hors bande dessinée. Après une longue journée passée à dessiner ses séries en cours, Ju/CDM dessine pour se reposer. Il dessine des requins. C'est son fils de trois ans qui lui a transmis cette passion dévorante. Depuis plusieurs années, dans des carnets de différentes tailles, Julien dessine des requins puis les poste sur Facebook, où ils rencontrent un grand succès. A ce jour, il en a dessiné plus de 200. Il est une chose dont peu se souviennent, c'est que l'Allemagne fut une puissance colonisatrice. De 1883 à 1916, elle occupa ce qu'on appelait alors le Sud-Ouest africain, l'actuelle Namibie. Il en est une autre que beaucoup ignorent, c'est que cette colonie fut le théâtre du premier génocide du xxe siècle. Un génocide oublié, occulté même, car le premier rapport officiel - le fameux Blue Book - sur le massacre des Hereros et des Namas fut soustrait à la connaissance du public en 1926. Elise Fontenaille-N'Diaye, alors qu'elle enquêtait sur son aïeul, le général Mangin, a retrouvé ce rapport disparu. Dès lors, elle se devait de raconter. Si ce livre vise à ranimer le souvenir de cette sombre page de l'histoire du colonialisme, il ne se veut pas un ouvrage de spécialiste. L'auteur y donne son point de vue d'écrivain, son point de vue personnel. Quelque part entre le désert du Kalahari et la presqu'île de Shark Island, au large de Lüderitz, s'est déroulée une macabre répétition générale, préfiguration des exterminations à venir.

Après "la vedette" "le canonnier de Vodkagrad" et "la taupe de Botagogo", Malo Louarn nous a concocté un nouvel opus avec le célébrissime Dupaxon. Il est mauvais Dupaxon ! Dans le plus grand secret, les dirigeants de l'Olympic F.C. se mettent tous d'accord pour gagner beaucoup d'argent au prochain match et font appel à un bookmaker. Dupaxon devient le propriétaire d'un bouc. Patpanic fait de gros efforts pour apprendre le français. Tous ces ingrédients vont provoquer un incroyable quiproquo : le book... le bouc... le bookmaker... le bouc m'écoeure... Qui va finalement gagner le match ? Qui va ramasser le pactole ? Dupaxon est-il vraiment si mauvais ? Lisez cette nouvelle aventure footballistique vraiment drôle et vous saurez qui est le fameux joueur "Hémissaire" !

Le journal qui défoule et qui fait vraiment du bien ! Un journal intime sans tabou ! La colère est un sentiment souvent présenté de façon négative et culpabilisatrice alors que c'est une émotion élémentaire de notre panel émotionnel qui révèle bien plus de nous-mêmes que d'autres. Marital Separation in Contemporary Ireland
This book is based on detailed interviews with a group of Irish women who have experienced marital separation. It links the women's accounts with literature on the values and beliefs about marriage, women and family which were prevalent when they were growing up in Ireland in the 1950s and 1960s. The book chronicles their young adult years, the early stages of their marriages and the events and processes which led to their separations. It explores the women's emotional reactions at the time of separating, the types of support which they found beneficial and the personal, social and financial consequences of having separated. Although the book is written from a sociological perspective, the combination of theory and practical insights make it accessible to a wide variety of readers. It aims to generate discussion and deepen understanding of an area into which there has been minimal research in Ireland and which poses a range of important questions for future researchers, practitioners and policy-makers.

Quentin Blake and the Demoiselles des Bords de Seine
Quentin Blake is one of the best-known illustrators of our time. He was Roald Dahl's regular illustrator, and their books have enjoyed world popularity with generations of children. Blake has collaborated with many other well-known authors and also created his own picture-books such as Clown and Zagazoo. Quentin Blake was born in England in 1932. For more than 20 years he taught in and then led the illustration department of the Royal College of Art. In 1999 he became the first Children's Laureate and in 2005 was appointed CBE for his services to children's literature. In France, where he spends a great deal of his time and where he has been published by Gallimard for the past 30 years, Quentin Blake has the same huge reputation as in Great Britain. His work has been exhibited there, and he has produced several books especially for French readers. In 2002 he was made a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. It was on account of this reputation that he was invited by the Petit Palais to select and present the exhibition Quentin Blake et les Demoiselles des Bords de Seine, and in the exhibition and this book he displays his enthusiasm for 19th century French art with a perceptiveness and liveliness which will speak to readers of all ages.

Dans cette nouvelle édition, puisque les temps sont durs, nous avons décidé de réduire le contenu du grand format pour ne garder que les plus beaux et plus gros de ces postérieurs rentre-dedans que n'auraient pas renié les frères Montgolfier. En plus de 150 photos, sans oublier les 30 nouvelles ajoutées dans un élan de grande bonté, vous découvrirez de généreuses croupes rebondies et d'autres, encore plus généreuses et rebondies, en noir et blanc comme en couleur. Les mannequins sont peut-être pour la plupart inconnus, mais leur courbes sont légendaires, et maintenant que les voici réunies dans un petit emballage discret que tout le monde peut s'offrir, pourquoi se priver ? The flexibility and generality of the GLIM language encourage a different approach to statistical analysis, which stresses parameter estimation and model criticism rather than hypothesis testing. The GLIM package can handle most of the models that ecologists are likely to fit to their data, including log-linear models of count data using Poisson errors, logistic regression of proportion data using binomial errors, and a wide variety of models for the analysis of survival data. It also allows an extremely general approach to more familiar procedures such as analysis of variance, multiple regression and the analysis of contingency tables.
The book provides a practical approach to learning the rationale and methods of linear modelling, starting from absolute basics and progressing in simple steps to cover the critical analysis of experimental and observational data. Minimal background in mathematics or statistical theory is assumed, and the book is aimed at all ecologists front students to experienced researchers. This work consists of essays on the so-called Middle Ages, seen from two perspectives. Writing from a sideline perspective, as opposed to the perspectives of historically mainstream theologies, in the first part of the book the author proposes a method for reading religious political texts with European philosophical insights but with a relevance for South Africa. This is done by comparing so-called Medieval texts with South African texts and situations within the demands of liberation, contextualisation, and communalism.In the second part of the book, from a female perspective, the author reevaluates the post-Biblical history of Christianity, criticising the terms "Patristics" and "Middle Ages".
